Custom Book Covers

awardsWe design beautiful book covers for self-published authors on these platforms…

Kindle, Createspace, Ebook, Paperback, Amazon, Hardcover, Epub, Smashwords, Lulu, Lightning Source, Nook, Kobo, iBookstore and more. Your paperback and eBook’s covers will be as professional as any bestseller.

Blue Gator can create a custom cover for your printed book and/or eBook. Our book covers are created by our owner, an award-winning graphic designer who has decades of experience.

Your custom book cover will include:

  • Front cover, back cover and spine
  • Print-ready PDF
  • eBook cover JPEG that can be used in the ebook and for marketing purposes
  • Royalty-free photo/illustration
  • Up to five rounds of revisions. If, for any reason, you do not like the first cover design, we will redesign it at no charge to you.
  • ISBN bar code created and placed on the back cover if needed. Client must supply the ISBN. (CreateSpace, an Amazon company, automatically places the ISBN on your cover. All you have to do is supply them the number. They also provide free ISBNs if you don’t have one.)

OSAC-tablet-paperbackPrint and eBook Combo Price: $495.
50% deposit required; remainder due before the release of final files.

Please note: Because of differences between paper stock, the width of a book’s spine will differ from printer to printer, and many printers have their own specific template format, which means you cannot use one file interchangeably between all the printers. Each additional printer version is $90.

Our checklist when designing your book cover:

check-mark-symbol-smDoes the book cover attract attention?

A book cover must be intriguing, otherwise, potential readers will skim past your book.

check-mark-symbol-smIs the book cover concise and striking?

If a cover is cluttered, nothing will stand out. We boldly display the story’s key elements and leave the subplots where they belong—inside the book.

check-mark-symbol-smDoes the book cover accurately portray the story?

A misleading cover will leave readers disappointed and fail to attract the intended audience.

check-mark-symbol-smDoes the book cover look good both large and small?

A book cover should look attractive both as a thumbnail and at actual size.

check-mark-symbol-smDoes the cover look unique?

Few indie authors can afford the cost of custom illustrations or photoshoots, so most book designers (ourselves included) use royalty-free photos and illustrations. There are thousands of great images to choose from, but there is always the risk of another author using the same photo. To prevent this, we try to use a combination of two or three royalty-free images or crop one image to achieve a unique look, but sometimes the art is too perfect not to use as is.

If being totally unique is crucial to an author, we can quote custom illustrations and/or photoshoots for their book cover (prices usually range from $1,000–$3,000).

check-mark-symbol-smAre the typefaces appropriate?

The typefaces used on your cover should accurately portray the mood of your book and genre. A light airy font would look strange on a action thriller, just as a big chunky font would look out of place on a romance novel. We also pay close attention to the placement and size. Everything should work in harmony.
